Ahh, spring is finally here!! Hope things are going well and touch base and send out our April Spotlight.

It has been a busy month! I spent sometime in Houston, TX attending the National Wildlife Federation Annual Conference as the Idaho representative for the Idaho Wildlife Federation. Great conference and had a fun time in Houston.

I am excited to announce KRZ along with CMD Marketing will be undertaking a state wide marketing program commissioned by the Idaho Wildlife Federation called Idaho Matters. Idaho Matters is a campaign to raise money for wildlife and habitat conservation through music and art. The web site is currently under construction. The campaign will kick off with a 13 song CD called "Songs of Idaho", followed by musical events in Boise, Sun Valley, Coeur D' Alene, and Pocatello starting 2011.

Good morning, Happy early St. Patrick's Day! My wife is roughly 1/16 Irish, so that gives me an excuse to join in the fun. I made a small tweak to the KRZ productions site, adding a little Irish flavor to the mix. Check it out!

Every few years, critics say Warren Buffett has lost his touch. He's too old and too old-fashioned, they claim. He doesn't get it anymore. This time he's wrong.

It happened during the dotcom bubble, when Mr. Buffett was mocked for refusing to join the party. And it happened again last year. As the Dow tumbled below 7,000, Mr. Buffett came under fire for having jumped into the crisis too early and too boldly, making big bets on Goldman Sachs and General Electric during the fall of 2008, and urging the public to plunge into shares.

Now it's time for those critics to sit down for their traditional three course meal: humble pie, their own words and crow.

Following the publication of Warren Buffett's investor newsletter over the weekend, the New Hub panelists argue whether it still makes sense to invest like Buffett.

On Saturday, Mr. Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway reported that net earnings rocketed 61% last year to $5,193 per share, while book value jumped 20% to a record high. Berkshire's Class A shares, which slumped to nearly $70,000 last year, have rebounded to $120,000.

Those bets on GE and Goldman? They've made billions so far. And anyone who took Mr. Buffett's advice and invested in the stock market in October 2008, even through a simple index fund, is up about 25%.

This is nothing new, of course. Anyone who held a $10,000 stake in Berkshire Hathaway at the start of 1965 has about $80 million today.

How does he do it? Mr. Buffett explained his beliefs to new investors in his letter to stockholders Saturday:

Stay liquid. "We will never become dependent on the kindness of strangers," he wrote. "We will always arrange our affairs so that any requirements for cash we may conceivably have will be dwarfed by our own liquidity. Moreover, that liquidity will be constantly refreshed by a gusher of earnings from our many and diverse businesses."

Buy when everyone else is selling. "We've put a lot of money to work during the chaos of the last two years. It's been an ideal period for investors: A climate of fear is their best friend ... Big opportunities come infrequently. When it's raining gold, reach for a bucket, not a thimble."

Don't buy when everyone else is buying. "Those who invest only when commentators are upbeat end up paying a heavy price for meaningless reassurance," Mr. Buffett wrote. The obvious corollary is to be patient. You can only buy when everyone else is selling if you have held your fire when everyone was buying.

Value, value, value. "In the end, what counts in investing is what you pay for a business-through the purchase of a small piece of it in the stock market-and what that business earns in the succeeding decade or two."

Don't get suckered by big growth stories. Mr. Buffett reminded investors that he and Berkshire Vice Chairman Charlie Munger "avoid businesses whose futures we can't evaluate, no matter how exciting their products may be."

Most investors who bet on the auto industry in 1910, planes in 1930 or TV makers in 1950 ended up losing their shirts, even though the products really did change the world. "Dramatic growth" doesn't always lead to high profit margins and returns on capital. China, anyone?

Understand what you own. "Investors who buy and sell based upon media or analyst commentary are not for us," Mr. Buffett wrote.

"We want partners who join us at Berkshire because they wish to make a long-term investment in a business they themselves understand and because it's one that follows policies with which they concur."

Defense beats offense. "Though we have lagged the S&P in some years that were positive for the market, we have consistently done better than the S&P in the eleven years during which it delivered negative results. In other words, our defense has been better than our offense, and that's likely to continue." All timely advice from Mr. Buffett for turbulent times.

Good afternoon!! After taking January off from our spotlight we are back and looking forward to 2010.

Some updates, announcements for KRZ, our clientele, and irons in the fire.

Over the holidays, we completed the Idaho Hispanic Chamber of Commerce web site, the Boise Rec Fest, we will be adding two architects and design firms, thanks Kevin with Shue Photography and an international modeling web site. We are also excited to be supporting Logan's Run with Hope. A charity run designed to raise money for S.I.D.S, (sudden infant death syndrome). More details to come and we are proud to be associated with the White family.

Born to Succeed has been added on a hosting and support account. Great school! I am biased, that is where my son goes to daycare.

In regards to the smart phone apps. We are currently working with Jus Global, Idaho Wildlife Federation, and Idaho Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and we recently completed a proposal for a fourth. I admit, we are going through a few growing pains and dealing with Apple can be quite frustrating. I feel we a have a great business model related to the app space and if you know of a non profit or organization looking to market, attract members, and raise funds please pass along our info.

Hope everyone is doing well, I love this time of year. November is a very busy month in the Zaragoza household, not only is there the upcoming holidays but throw in two birthdays, we stay pretty busy.

A few business announcements:

Please visit the completely updated and rebuilt KRZ productions llc site. Took a while, but I am finally comfortable with the look and feel.

We are currently finishing the Idaho Hispanic Chamber of Commerce site, about 90% complete with a web site for CMD marketing and Colbi Ditter, and last week got the ok to begin on the Suds Tavern web site. That is going to be a fun one!

We had our first animation and video meeting with Sarah McClendon, McClendon Engineering, and National Council of Structural Engineers Association. It will be a cool project, producing an education and recruiting video for the structural engineer profession. I will keep you updated on the progress.

Personally, I have been elected to the Board of Directors for the Idaho Wildlife Federation and I am a member of the leadership and development team for the Boise Rec Fest. Both, great groups, and I am excited to be a part.

Hope all is well and fall is absolutely in the air!! Pretty light October Spotlight, we did have a great September adding two outside sales associates, Kenny Schultz in Eastern Idaho, and Bill Ward in Sedona, Arizona.

We are currently finishing up a few website projects, getting the animation up and running, and discussing a joint venture with another local tech company. We will be providing Smart phone applications for Iphone and Blackberry.

This project is going to be fantastic. Credibility is all about perception and you want your customers to believe that you understand them and have the knowledge and experience to help fulfill their needs. The most important thing is too provide the service and in turn value is perceived. If your website is the first contact point then your business is completely based on the clients or customers perception. If that is the case then how can you make sure your website enhances your credibility?

1. Put right upfront information that is most important to your customers. Anticipate the customer or client needs and help them. Show them, don't just tell them.

2. Organize your information in a way that makes sense to your customers. Guide the customer and client through information gathering, decision making and hesitations. Do not push. If the customer and client is not ready invite them to come back.

3. Make it easy for the customer to find their way around. This is pretty self explanatory just it simple no one likes to get lost.

4.Have your site professionally designed and use appropriate imagery. Give us a call and do not use a template.

5. Avoid Jargon. Use plain language and make the site readable.

6. Eliminate spelling and grammatical errors. Proof read your content, double check, and get a second set of eyes to proof read the content.

7. Provide a variety of contact methods. Every customer and client feels comfortable communicating via different avenues. Use as many contact methods and vary the range from phone, email, Facebook, etc.

8. Make sure everything works.

9. Have a privacy policy.

10. Respond to inquiries promptly. Does not matter if it is small or large respond to everything and remember it is customer service.

Branding is the most important things any person or business needs to establish and maintain. If you are in business and it does not matter whether your a sales rep, independent contractor, business owner, or organization, you have a brand.

Branding can be defined as the outward impression you, your business, its products or services generate in the eyes of the public, your customers, and your clients.

The question you have to ask yourself, is your brand having an impact on your success?

What is branding?

Branding is having confidence about you or your core products and services.
Branding is the difference between you and your competition? Is it service? Is it a superior product?
Your branding must create an emotional response to the public.
Your branding must resonate with how you feel about your business.
Branding needs to reflect how your target clients perceive your business.
Finally, branding is consistency with your identity. You must live up to whatever image you are trying to convey.

The benefits of branding:

Powerful branding increases customer and client confidence plus loyalty.
Branding helps you generate more referrals and if someone is referred to you there is a greater likelihood they will contact you.
Your brand establishes an emotional connection to your business and price will take on less of an importance. There will be perceived value in you, your services, and product.
Branding will also make it easier for you to hire and keep good sales people and staff. Your business will be more attractive to them.

Remember branding does not work over night and it is something that needs to be addressed on a regular basis. You have to make sure you stay on target with the message you are trying to convey.

What sets you apart?

Your branding is completely different than your competition and unique to your business. It's your message and what people experience when doing business with you. The way you express that experience in your branding are the keys to help you stand out from the crowd.

I am a spiritual person, but I do not attend church on a regular basis. Having said that, I am not here to preach, I am here to talk business. I have seen this quote before and saw it again this weekend. It sparked something in me, enough, to write this blog. What does this quote mean me.

HOPE!

You have to have hope in order to succeed, whether your talking personal development, family, business, etc.

If you read a paper or watch the news, DON'T!!! I have made a concerted effort to shield myself from the negativity available 24 hours a day.

Is it easy to do? No, but I make an effort and focus all my energy into my family and my business.

How can you help shield yourself? Establish goals.

Do you have goals? Personal, financial, and business. If so, read them, if not, use this blog to help get you started.

Here are a few simple pointers when writing goals.

Goals must be in writing: A written goal is hard to avoid, if it is on paper.
Goals must be specific: They must be clear and exact. If the goals are loose, there is wiggle room. Do not leave any wiggle room.
Goals must be set in stone: The setting of a goal establishes commitment!
Goals must be measurable: The ability to measure a goal allows mid course corrections to help with completion and progress of the goal.
Goals must be realistic: Realistic goals help with motivation. Reward yourself when goals are completed.
Goals must provide motivation: Now, goals can't be too easy, but the need to be lofty enough to challenge yourself and make you get out of bed in the morning.
Goals must be in line with your values: Don't be a sell out, follow your principles and success follows.
Goals must have a specific time period: Goes hand in hand with making goals specific, there must be an end date so you do not leave yourself wiggle room.

Advertise to your customers an internet or web site promotion
